Training & Development ("T&D") is a company committed to safety. With its three principal employees and a number of interns, T&D promotes safety nationwide
through instructional videos, safety demonstrations and informative literature & graphic design. T&D focuses its educational energies on the safety-industry tradeshow
SafeCon, held every three years in Chicago, Illinois.
T&D's work has been the focus of two exhibitions in the Chicago area in the recent past. The first of these was the Version 05 media festival in April of 2005, which allowed T&D to bring their safety education trade show booth to a diverse audience of designers, anarchists and other creative-types. Simply titled "Training & Development," the exhibition featured T&D's five-part safety training tape series and a computerized testing station for automated safety certification.
"Innovations in Safety, 1983-2003"
In 2006, T&D was the focus of an exhibit honoring the company's storied history. The Career Retrospective was the first time that all of T&D's efforts have been reviewed, and featured a photographic history of the famous three-person team. In addition, pieces from private collections of some of T&D's more memorable wardrobe choices were featured, including a special "Glasses Retrospective" outlining the highs and lows of the T&D team's corrective eyewear through the years. "Innovations in Safety, 1983-2003" was on view in Chicago, Illinois at Heaven Gallery during the month of September 2006.
The exhibit included a look at three of the most memorable videos from the T&D archives, documenting some crucial moments in the company's history. Below is an image of the T&D team in 1983, arriving at the first SafeCon.
