Seajon is a film that I made with Peter Miller. We had recently been at a party where we were informed by our friend Andy Roche that "everyone knows that the only real film is psychedelic film from Iowa." Andy is a filmmaker whose documentary Born to Live Life is the greatest psychedelic film from/about Iowa I have ever seen. Peter and I took this as a challenge to create a psychedelic film that, while not from Iowa, would at least be from the midwest. We started by trying to animate everything we could think of at the same time. We also attempted to recreate the hologram effects from Star Wars IV by shooting video of a figure in white against a black cloth, and shooting that recorded video off a monitor with a 16mm camera. We jiggled the connections on the monitor to encourage flickering, and the natural phase of the screen refresh helped a lot. We showed it to Andy and he liked it. This version is set to UNKLE's Celestial Annihilation, for "enhanced doomy-ness."
